One of the newest Pitts constructions.
The first survey report by the OUV is on hand.
The fuselage and the tail unit are made by Alex Stegner (learnt aircraft mechanic). He enhanced the D-EEYS, Stegner became runner-up the 2006 German air acrobatics (Kat. Unlimited).
Almost all of the metal parts have been welded by an approved aircraft welder of the company Bitz in Augsburg, Bavaria.
Mr Stegner flew to America himself, only to parts of the aircraft, e.g. undercarriage with integrated brake line, wheel rims, brake rotor discs, canopy, etc.
The body shell work is high quality, as every single part of the aircraft has been fabricated by a specialist contractor. The airfoils have been produced by the company Christian Frrhlich (known through professional journals).
The experience on other Pitts S1-11 has had an influence on our work, too.
Mr Frrhlich has only used high quality air ply. Nothing has been clamped as it is usually done in the USA, but the aircraft has been glued. The leading edge is made of ply wood, too, instead of aluminium.
Other material that is provided for further use on the Pitts S1-11 are shock mounts, covering material, tires, wheels, brakes, gasoline filter, air-screw, construction plans, etc.
Pictures and technological data concerning the aircraft can be viewed on www.german-aerobatics.de (aircrafts).
Unfortunately I have to quit the project because of lack of time.
The aircraft cost 39.800 .
The current market value of a flying Pitts S1-11 amounts to ca. 110.000 .
